Start at NM 725 719 OS Explorer 390
This route involves a hard climb of over 600 feet (180 metres).
Don't go if the weather is bad and don't go in the deer stalking
season without checking first with the estate on 01967 431
609.
You can park a few cars near the entrance to the Kinlochmoidart
Fish Hatchery, but don't cause an obstruction.

Kinlochmoidart House from the Three Old Maids
track
|
Follow the track opposite to the site of Brunery Farm (now
just a single stone wall) . Cross the old farm yard and you
will see the start of the path on your left. This is a long
arduous climb up a track once used by ponies carrying materials
to build a dam at the top of the hill. There is a branching
track off to the left which goes to Kinlochmoidart House.
Follow the path up to the top of the wood, where it makes
two large zigzags. At the top of the second zigzag, stop and
let the slower people catch up. By the corner there are the
remains of a few sheiling houses.
Leave the path continuing the same direction across the burn
to the foot of the steep hillside on the west. Follow this
southwards and you will come to the Three Old Maids - a group
of three points made of a perched boulder between two outcrops.
Look under the centre point and you will find a surprise!
If you still have time, retrace your steps to the track and
continue up to Loch na Paitean at the top, with a little boathouse
by the shore.
